How to Use Cliradex®

In order to establish patient expectations with Cliradex® it is recommended you demonstrate proper use of a Cliradex® towelette in-office with your patients prior to their use at home. Additionally we recommend the following:

  • Emphasize the importance of following the instructions for use so that the formulation can effectively cleanse the skin.
  • Remind your patient to allow Cliradex® to dry on the face instead of washing it off.
  • Explain to the patient that they should expect to feel a cool, refreshing, menthol sensation. Also explain that some patients experience a slight sting and this is normal and should dissipate within a few minutes.
  • Instruct your patient that if Cliradex® gets in the eye, the patient can irrigate their eye with water or a saline solution if they feel discomfort.
  • Optional: Ask the patient to photograph their eyes as an initial baseline and weekly to track improvement of their symptoms over time.
  • Ask the patient to schedule an initial follow up visit after 1 month of use.
  • Suggest a maintenance regimen of usage at your discretion. We recommend once daily for 6-8 weeks for mild to moderate symptoms, or twice daily for 6-8 weeks for moderate to severe symptoms.
